Chelsea Kenya Meru Branch is a vibrant community of Chelsea FC supporters headquartered in Meru, Kenya — with sub-branches in Tharaka Nithi, Isiolo, and Laikipia counties.

We are dedicated to unity, empowerment, and positive social impact, proactively engaging in charitable, social, cultural, and educational activities to reduce deficiencies in economic, educational, spiritual, and social standards.

Our members stay connected through an official WhatsApp community where all branch communications, updates, and announcements are shared. When you pay your registration fee, you are added to the group — that is where the real conversations happen.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

End-of-year AGM for financial reports, elections, planning, and all key branch decisions.

Executive Committee

The group elects its office bearers annually. Each elected member holds only one position. Elections are conducted by a 3-member Election Committee via secret ballot.

Chairperson
Presides over meetings, bank signatory, communicates with partners & sponsors, approves all group decisions.
Vice Chairperson
Principal assistant to the Chair; serves when the Chair is absent or delegates duties.
Treasurer
Keeps all financial records, handles all funds, provides financial reports. Bank account signatory.
Secretary
Records meeting proceedings, manages all correspondence. Bank account signatory.
Asst. Secretary
Principal assistant to the Secretary; serves when Secretary is absent or delegated.
Organizing Secretary
Plans and coordinates all group events and activities throughout the year.
Asst. Organizing Sec.
Assists the Organizing Secretary in event planning and coordination duties.
2 Scouts
Scout venues, new members, dormant members, and potential sponsors & partners for the group.
Kit Manager
Manages all group and football team kit and related equipment.
Data Manager
Maintains and protects all members' data in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2019.
Chief Whip
Responsible for maintaining law, order, and discipline in all group platforms and activities.
Football Team Rep.
Represents the football team's interests in the committee and acts as the link between team and committee.
Advisor
Offers advisory services to the committee on key branch matters.

Qualifications & Benefits

Chelsea Kenya Meru Football Club

Our football club is the heartbeat of the branch. The team is made up exclusively of branch members and has its own dedicated management committee, with a representative on the main executive committee.

The branch fully finances the football team's needs. The team participates in friendly matches, memorial tournaments, and community events across the four counties we serve.

The branch opened the 2026 year in prayer and unity at Nkubu, setting an intentional and blessed tone for all activities ahead.

Constitution at a Glance

Chelsea Kenya Meru Branch operates under a formal constitution ratified in 2024. Key provisions are summarized below.

Annual General Meeting

General meetings shall be held after every 12 months and shall be regarded as the Annual General Meeting. These shall be held in the month of December. If the month is not appropriate, the Chairperson shall consult members to determine the date.

Special General Meetings

Special General Meetings are general meetings that shall be called as need arises, outside the regular AGM schedule.

Executive Committee Meetings

Executive committee meetings shall be constituted by the head office bearers and held as need arises to make decisions on branch operations.

Special Committees

Special committees shall be appointed from time to time to undertake specific tasks. Each committee shall comprise of not less than 3 and not more than 5 members, with clear terms of reference.

Meeting Procedure

Meetings open with prayer, followed by the Chairperson's welcome remarks, reading and proposing of previous minutes, matters arising, other agenda items, and a closing prayer. Decisions passed shall be the official position of the group.

Attendance Rules

All members shall attend all general meetings. Meetings run for not more than 5 hours. No member may attend under the influence of drugs, and no drugs are permitted during meetings. Minutes are signed by the Chairperson and Secretary as ratification.

Election Frequency

The group shall hold elections every 1 year to fill the positions of all office bearers. Election of any vacant position shall be held at the next general meeting or as deemed necessary.

Election Committee

An Election Committee comprising of 3 members nominated by the membership shall oversee CK Meru elections and conduct them as per the election rules and policies set by Chelsea Kenya.

Election Procedure

Interested members declare their interest or may be nominated by other members. Members vote by secret ballot. The winner is declared by simple majority, or when no other candidate contests the position.

Vacancy of Office

A vacancy arises upon: end of tenure, resignation accepted by the committee, natural attrition, fraudulent behavior, poor performance, or missing 3 consecutive committee meetings without apology.

Branch Representative

The Branch Chairperson, or any other committee member nominated by the Chairperson, shall represent the branch at Chelsea Kenya national level.

Amendments

The constitution is reviewed every 3 years. Amendments require a 2/3 majority of members present at an AGM or SGM. Any rejected amendment may be reintroduced after 6 months from the date of its initial rejection.

🏦 Financial Management

  • All funds deposited in the group bank account or Treasurer's registered M-Pesa number
  • Signatories to the group bank account: Chairperson, Treasurer, and Secretary
  • Treasurer documents and provides receipts of all monies received and spent
  • Treasurer provides deposit/banking slips of all monies banked
  • Proof of all money collected provided by the Treasurer during meetings or when necessary
  • Treasurer provides periodic financial statements and reports to the group and partners

⚠️ Fraud Policy

  • Any member found guilty of fraud, beyond reasonable doubt, shall repay the amount plus a 25% fine
  • Payment must be made within 3 months following proof of fraud
  • Failure to pay the accrued amount within 3 months may result in legal action in a court of law, with the individual required to pay the total amount and any other costs relevant to the case

  • Financial records (receipts, banking slips, statements)
  • Minutes of all meetings
  • The branch constitution
  • Bio-data for all members — maintained by the Data Manager, compliant with the Data Protection Act 2019
  • All records must be updated before the end of the next meeting

Welfare Membership

All members of the group are required to be enrolled in the Chelsea Kenya Welfare Group in order to benefit from any group compassionate contributions.

Compassionate Support Eligibility

Compassionate contributions shall be conducted in favour of any member who is a CK Welfare member and who appears in 3 out of the 5 latest Branch compassionate contributions.

Covered Losses

Compassionate contributions are provided for 7 days in the event of death of the principal member, spouse, child, or biological parent.

Natural Attrition

Cases of natural attrition (death) shall be guided by the Welfare Constitution, which is annexed to the main branch constitution.

Suspension & Termination

Members' suspension and termination shall be guided by a set of By-Laws annexed to this constitution. Membership may be terminated for gross violation of the constitution, by volition, natural attrition, or non-compliance with the constitution.

Ex-communication

Any member whose membership is terminated shall be ex-communicated from the group's platform. Ex-communication is only implemented after a discussion by the committee and approval by members.

The following rules govern all members across all group platforms at all times. The committee enforces these without favor.

Any member who posts offensive messages, videos or photos (including pornographic material) shall be suspended for 14 days.

Any member who uses abusive language against another member shall be suspended for two weeks.

Politics and political discussions are strictly disallowed. Violations result in a two-week suspension.

Legal action shall be taken against any member who misuses, misappropriates, or steals group funds or property.

Cyberbullying is strictly prohibited. Punishable by a suspension of 2 weeks up to permanent ex-communication.

Personal business advertisements are only allowed in the group on Fridays.

If a member is suspended 3 times for the same offence, the 4th occurrence results in a permanent ban from the group.

Ex-communication is only implemented after committee discussion and approval by members.

Become a registered member of Chelsea Kenya Meru Branch. You must be a Chelsea FC fan, 18 years or older, and successfully vetted by the committee. Once approved, you are added to the official WhatsApp community where all branch communication happens.
